Shop Vac vs. Carpet Extractor: Which Do You Really Need for Car Interiors?

When starting interior detailing, many enthusiasts wonder if they need to drop $500 to $1,500 on a heated carpet extractor or if a standard 5-gallon wet/dry shop vacuum is enough.

The short answer: for 90% of routine vehicle maintenance and personal car care, a strong wet/dry shop vacuum paired with a manual pump sprayer and drill brush is faster, cheaper, and safer.
